United for Peace was launched by citizens in the Chicagoland area in March 2019, who were very concerned by the growing intolerance, hate, polarization and accompanying violence in the US and many other parts of the world, and wanted to be proactive about addressing it. Our founding members strongly felt that growing incidence of hate crimes and mass shootings was unacceptable for the well-being of children and future generations and citizens had to come together to help people understand that violence was no solution to conflict and recognize our common humanity.

We are a grassroots movement. Our volunteers work locally in the geographical areas and cities 11. Activities are focused locally but we speak up for nonviolence and peace in the world. Our action is local, or voice is global. Our volunteers can recite anywhere and at any country in the dash and work locally in their area.

We do support human rights and social justice in the world. However, we are not a human rights organization or one fighting for social justice. If I work in counters issues related to human rights or social justice, we would involve a referral to another organization specifically focused on that. For.

We are an apolitical organization and do not get involved in the politics of any country. We do not protest against actions of any regime. Our work is directly at the grassroots, working with people to build respect and unity.

We are not associated with anyone faith. Our members practiced different religions, in fact most major religions of the world and we value the diversity in our organization.

We work with all members of our community of all ages.

We are a nonprofit organization and our activities are funded by donations from members are supporters.

We are registered nonprofit organization 501(c)(3) in State of Illinois

We focus on all major differences in our communities that are primarily used to identify people and create perceived membership in groups and are the basis of group conflict. Most importantly we focus on race, religion, ethnicity/country of origin.

We facilitate change through fostering awareness building, dialogue, training, skill building, immersion in experiences and sharing information.
